This report comprises the first step in the archaeological process for a planning application and can also be combined with a heritage statement if required.
A report which identifies the heritage assets within a range of a given site and from this evaluates the likelihood that archaeological remains may be present with the development area. It then evaluates the potential impact by a development to these remains and recommend mitigation.
Information sources for this comprise records of notable archaeological records or finds from previous archaeological works (Historical Environment Records) from the local authority, historic mapping, aerial photography and other documentary sources.
